Campaign Roundup - Day 7:
- Saskatchewan has redrawn and renamed several constituencies to reflect population growth, particularly in Regina and Saskatoon. Despite these changes, the number of seats in the legislature remains at 61. Voters can verify their constituency with Elections Saskatchewan as many may find their districts have shifted since previous elections.
- Scott Moe, Leader of the Saskatchewan Party, announced plans to offer women an at-home HPV self-screening kit as an alternative to the Pap test, aiming to improve cervical cancer prevention. Candidates Laura Ross and Sarah Wright, who are both cancer survivors, made a video with Moe discussing the importance of the announcement.
- The Saskatchewan Party also announced a 50% refundable tax credit for the cost of a first fertility treatment, to a maximum of $20,000.
- The Saskatchewan NDP continued to decry the state of the healthcare system. They shared cost figures from an FOI request revealing that the AIMS payroll system for doctors, nurses, and hospitals is less than halfway implemented and has already cost taxpayers $203 million - nearly three times the original estimate.
- Carla Beck, the Saskatchewan NDP Leader, announced her party’s plan to get tough on crime. She promised an Unexplained Wealth Task Force, a rebate program for security upgrades, and to hire 100 more police officers.
- The Saskatchewan Leaders' Debate between Saskatchewan Party Leader Scott Moe and Saskatchewan NDP Leader Carla Beck has been scheduled for Wednesday, October 16th, from 6:05 pm to 7:00 pm. It will be moderated by Merelda Fiddler and feature questions from a panel of four journalists. The debate will be livestreamed on both the CTV Regina and CTV Saskatoon websites, in addition to being aired on television.
