Welcome to Day 15 of our Saskatchewan 2024 Campaign Roundup!

With the 2024 SK election underway, we'll be bringing you daily updates on all the policy proclamations, platform promises, and political point-scoring from the campaign trail.

As always, our work is entirely funded by donations from Saskatchewanians just like you, so if you appreciate the updates, please consider making a one-off donation or signing up as a supporter for just $10 a month - that's just 36 cents per email!

Campaign Roundup - Day 15:

  • The Saskatchewan Leaders' Debate between Saskatchewan Party Leader Scott Moe and Saskatchewan NDP Leader Carla Beck takes place tomorrow night, from 6:05 pm to 7:00 pm. It will be moderated by Merelda Fiddler and feature questions from a panel of four journalists.

  • The Saskatchewan Party announced plans to extend its exemption of the federal carbon tax on natural gas and electricity used for home heating for another year if re-elected. This follows their decision to stop collecting the tax after Prime Minister Trudeau exempted home heating oil from the tax in 2023, largely benefiting Atlantic provinces.

  • The Saskatchewan NDP promised to hire 800 new frontline healthcare workers, in addition to retaining the ones already working in the province.

  • It’s Saskatchewan NDP Leader Carla Beck’s birthday. Her party asked supporters to send her a birthday wish.

  • The Saskatchewan United Party said they would review the potash royalty and take advantage of the value of the commodity in order to provide tax cuts.

  • Both the Saskatchewan Party and NDP are focusing on close contests in Regina and Saskatoon, particularly in ridings like Regina Northeast and Saskatoon Riversdale. Changes to the electoral map have made previously secure seats more competitive, creating uncertainty in traditionally strong areas for both parties.
